Nestled in the heart of St. Paul, The Nook is a beloved American restaurant and bar that masterfully celebrates the artistry of the classic burger while delivering an authentic Midwestern dining experience. Known for its indelible take on the iconic Juicy Lucy—a burger with molten cheese oozing temptingly from the center—The Nook has become a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike craving bold, comforting flavors in a lively yet inviting atmosphere.
The menu is a delicious ode to American comfort food, expertly crafted to satisfy even the most discerning taste buds. From the moment you bite into Mickey's Original Burger, featuring signature ground beef nestled on a freshly baked local bun, to the sensational Mickey's Bacon Cheeseburger layered with sharp cheddar, American cheese, and crispy bacon, each sandwich delivers a juicy explosion of flavor. If you’re feeling adventurous, the Guy’s Big Bite Burger offers a hearty helping of indulgence that embodies everything great about burger craftsmanship.
Beyond burgers, The Nook presents a vibrant menu worth exploring. The golden, hand-dipped cheese curds are an experience—crispy on the outside, lusciously creamy inside—a perfect appetizer to share with friends. Equally tempting are the Pot O Gold Wings and the indulgent Honey Bacon Cheese Curds, which are savory comfort in every bite. Complement these with a side of fresh-cut fries or the uniquely addictive Irish Fries, and you have a perfectly balanced meal. For those craving seafood, the Walleye Sandwich and paired dishes like Walleye & Chips provide a wholesome twist with tender, flaky fish enveloped in crisp, golden batter.
The dining atmosphere at The Nook is spirited and welcoming. Diners can enjoy their meals amidst an inviting bar setting furnished with a fascinating backdrop of dollar bills signed by patrons, lending an undeniable character to the space. The addition of a bowling alley downstairs creates a fun, social vibe that makes visits feel special and memorable, perfect for casual evenings out or celebrating with friends. Several customers have remarked on the friendly, attentive service that elevates the entire experience, with recommendations often hitting the mark for first-timers.
Don't forget to round off your meal with one of their indulgent desserts like a silky chocolate shake or a classic root beer float, each a nostalgic throwback that perfectly complements the hearty meal. As one delighted guest shared, the sweet potato fries are "cooked to perfection, seasoned just right," adding a sweet and savory note to an already exceptional menu.
Whether you're a burger aficionado chasing the juiciest bite in Minnesota or someone looking for a lively spot with great food and a distinctive local vibe, The Nook delivers on every level. It's clear why this spot has earned glowing praise and why visitors like Catarina Vega and Hector Baraoidan plan to come back—it is, in every sense, a standout on the Twin Cities food scene.
First time ever experiencing cheese curds and the burger with melted cheese from the center !! I can’t remember our waitress name but she gave us the best recommendation. This was my first time visiting Minnesota and I was thrilled to have found this place. If I ever return to St. Paul’s I will make it a point to come back. I thrived the sweet potato fries - cooked to perfection seasoned with sugar and cinnamon (I prefer Ceylon cinnamon). The original cheese curds - it was like funnel cake and cheese without the sweetness. And the nook burger- the patty was seasoned so well!! First time I’ve ever wanted to lick a burger lol.
Came here for happy hour with a friend after work. I've heard good things from friends and finally got around to checking it out. The happy hour specials are fantastic and it was fun to sit downstairs near the bowling alley. Coming here made a Friday afternoon that much better, so I'll definitely be back. 5 stars from me!
When I tried to search the best burgers on my visit here in Minneapolis, I’ve heard a lot about ‘The Nook’, I just had to try it, especially when Guy Fieri featured it. It didn’t disappoint. The juiciest burger I ever had. Sweet potato fries were spot on. You can’t go wrong with the deep fried cheese curds. This is what a Jucy Lucy should be. A little warning though, careful when digging in your burgers, cheese filling is hot.
Loved the nook! This was last one of our Juicy Lucy stops but this was my number 2 out of the 3. Came here to try the Juicy Lucy and wasn't disappointed! I ordered the Juicy Lucy with pepper jack cheese it was off the hook cheese was so gooey! The staff were great, the service was quick and the burgers were fantastic. A healthy portion of properly cooked fries accompanied the burgers along with some pickles. We would gladly return every time we are in town. 100% recommend!
Charming, satisfying, and one-of-a-kind, my first time visiting The Nook left nothing to be desired. A great spot for wings, burgers, and beverages, The Nook is one of the best of what the Twin Cities has to offer. I was blown away by the spacious bar and dining space, complete with a bowling alley and an interior plastered with dollar bills signed by customers. Endlessly re-visitable, I’m grateful to the friend that brought me here and can see myself being back. My thanks to The Nook!
Strong with the Force, this place truly is. The Lodge Burger, ordered with a black bean patty, arrived balanced and satisfying — hearty, well-seasoned, and proof that plant-powered choices need not walk the path of compromise. Fresh toppings, a solid bun, and a build that held together like a well-trained Padawan. Then came the Dill Pickle Cheese Curds… and hmm, powerful they are. Crispy on the outside, gooey within, with that punch of dill tang that keeps you reaching for “just one more.” Resist them, you will not. There is a reason this spot has earned its place on Google’s Twin Cities Top List. Quality, consistency, and comfort food done right, the Force guides them well. A return visit, inevitable it is.
This place is a VIBE, went there because of the reviews and also cause of Triple D's. I order the lodge burger which is Joe Mauer's favorite and was amazing. Amazing staff and has a vintage bowling alley downstairs. If your in the twin cities I recommend stopping here. Also place gets busy everyday but worth the wait.
This is a Minnesota legend and its easy to see why. The burgers are obviously amazing and a big reason why everyone comes but I think the whole menu is great. The wings and apps are all delicious and huge portions... even during happy hour. I really liked the pickles and peppers they were a different take on deep fried pickles that were really good. I also had the nook curds and if you like honey these are a most try. Went for the Monday $3 burger special and I would say on that one you get what you pay for... Really the whole place is a must try!
